From July 9 to July 15, the international course "Quantum Information Theory" delivered by Prof. Martin Bodo Plenio from the University of Ulm was held online, which was for all the HUST students. It was a great chance for our students to stimulate the interest in conducting quantum information research and learning abundant relevant theory knowledge.
Prof. Martin Plenio clearly explained the historical background and development of relevant researches on every topic. Besides, he gave rigorous mathematical derivations and proofs, as well as promoted the students' understanding of hard issues by listing simple and typical examples related to the research of cutting-edge quantum information.
After class, Prof. Cai Jianming organized the team discussion and solved students' questions. The counsellors leaded the students to solve after-class assignments for deepening understanding of the course contents.
During the course, Associate Prof. Ralf Betzholz invited Bruno G. Taketani, the team member of IQM, to introduce the frontier research progress in the area of quantum computing, which benefit the students to broaden horizons and deepen the understanding of theoretical research as well as practical applications.
Through systematically courses, our students mastered basic theories of quantum information and broadened their international horizons as well as improved professional English reading and listening skills.
