In July 1954
The school decided to set up the School of Physics, directly led by the Office of Academic Affairs.
From 1960 to 1961
Basic courses such as solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, physics, chemistry were arranged as part of the curriculum for the School of Marxism-Leninism, which included in the classes of mathematics, physics, chemistry, sports and politics.
In August 1983
To meet the demands of teaching and researches, the University decided to disslove the School of Physical Chemistry and the School of Solid State Electronics. Instead, the School of Physics and Solid State Electronics was established.
In October 1983
The formal document, no.154 titled "On the Renaming of the School of Physics and Solid State Electronics to the School of Physics", was released in 1983. Following this, the School of Physics was set up.
In April 1984
In order to meet the needs of teaching and scientific researches, the original school of Physics was divided into two parts: the School of Physics, and the School of Solid State Electronics.
In May 2000
Tongji Medical University, Wuhan Urban Construction Academy and Huazhong University of Science merged to form a new college named Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
In August 2005
The School of Physics of Tongji Medical University was incorporated with the existing school of Physics.
In May 2008
To accelerate the development of physical discipline and meet the requirements of Hust striving to become internationally renowned, the School of Physics was formally established.
